Escher's Waterfall by ToshioMagic Escher's Waterfall by ToshioMagic
Classic. Yes, that's right. My version of the famous Escher's Waterfall. What a great optical illusion. Those shapes on the top took forever and the wheel didn't turn out how I would have liked. I also don't like where the water hits the wheel. Other than that, I like everything, especially the wavy water reflections. : )

Escher's Waterfall by ~ToshioMagic - An interesting Escher tribute piece of Isometric PixelArt has just arrived in the Gallery. A painstaking piece of work with some excellent dithering on the pillars and very pleasing reflections in the water. Please press on work for a larger view. Essa obra influenciou o puzzle do jardim da hera (hera's garden) no GOW III. Muito legal!

my goodness, these illusions freak my mind out. It's cool to look at, but after awhile I feel sick. =|

It's also intriguing the impossibility of this object actually occupying real space. I mean they way it is id just can't exist.

My mind will explode in 3 seconds... :iconboomplz:

well i drew everything seperate. getting the angles and lengths right on the shapes on the top of the tower took the longest.

i had to mathematically work out a lot of it, such as the wheel.

yup. amazing thing is that he did it out of woodcuts. that means he did it in the negative. . .in 3D. thats more skill than i have.

hmm question for you

how is the water moving up?

or is it suppose to move down?

but then how is there a waterfall?

did you create an optical illusion on purpose?
